The men who signed the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution were visionaries who laid the foundation for the United States. Each signature represents a commitment to the principles of liberty, justice, and the rule of law. In signing the Declaration in 1776, they boldly affirmed the colonies’ right to independence, risking their lives and fortunes to stand against British rule. Later, in 1787, many of these same leaders, along with others, gathered to sign the Constitution, creating a framework for a new government dedicated to safeguarding individual freedoms and balancing power. This list honors those who risked everything to build a nation based on ideals that continue to inspire generations.
