George Taylor

George Taylor was born in Ireland, in the year 1716. He came to America at an early age, and settled in Pennsylvania. He was engaged in mercantile pursuits, and became a man of wealth and influence.

He took an active part in the resistance to the measures of the British government, and was elected a member of the Provincial Congress of Pennsylvania. He was chosen a delegate to the Continental Congress, and signed the Declaration of Independence.

He rendered important services in securing the adoption of that measure, and continued in Congress until 1777. He was afterward elected a member of the Legislature of Pennsylvania, and discharged the duties of that office with great ability.

He died in the year 1781.
